About the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences: "We're Life!"
“We’re Life!” captures the energy, enthusiasm, and commitment of faculty and students in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. As one of the best in the U.S., the College is dedicated to making a positive impact on the world. We look to the future and are working hard to shape a better tomorrow.
Throw away your old perceptions about agriculture. Instead, think of it as something that impacts everything you do. It is the food you eat, the water you drink, the air you breathe, the clothes you wear—and, soon, the fuel you use.
It’s big. Really big.
When you have something this big, it also means opportunities are limitless. Many of our graduates make their living as bankers, engineers, teachers, environmental experts, scientists, business leaders, government officials, as well as ranchers and farmers. And WHERE they work varies, too—from the world’s largest cities to small farming communities.
Here are five great reasons to consider the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences:
We’re Aggies!
In fact, we are the original Aggies. As a land grant university, agriculture has been part of Texas A&M University’s focus since it was founded in 1876. Here you become an Aggie for life. Our former student network is incredible, and major companies heavily recruit our graduates.
We’re Leaders!
Our college is the largest of its kind in the U.S., based on the number of degrees awarded. About 1,200 bachelor's degrees and 200 graduate degrees are earned each year. Graduates are successfully going into high-paying careers or are pursuing professional and advanced degrees. In the College they learned to lead through 35 student organizations, co-ops, study abroad options, and internships (including the U.S. Congress).
We’re Scholars!
We have 40 undergraduate majors and options, plus more than 50 graduate degrees, which is more than any other college at A&M University. We offer an incredible range of study options. Then we bring it all together, teaming up world-class faculty members with hi-tech facilities, professional organizations, and the support of industry. We provide a truly exemplary educational experience.
We’re Research!
There are more than 300 nationally recognized faculty members, including two Nobel laureates. As a partner with the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Service agencies, the College has access to resources and opportunities not available elsewhere.
We’re Family!
People succeed when they are in a community, which is why we have more than 50 advisors working with them. Our professors know students’ names—they care because that is how a family is supposed to work.
