Career Clusters
We're agriculture. WE'RE LIFE! Whether you want to investigate science, conserve natural resources, serve others…or any number of other things, we probably have a undergraduate degree plan for you. Here are some “career clusters” and majors that are offered in the College. For additional information on any of these majors, click on Undergraduate Majors
Investigate Science
Biochemistry * Entomology * Food Science & Technology * Genetics * Forensic & Investigative Sciences
- Study and investigate life from a cellular level
- Contributes to fields such as medicine, nutrition, immunology, forensic investigation, genomics, clinical chemistry, & molecular biology
- Forensic & Investigative Science assists student to prepare for positions in industrial, regulatory, legal, & medical areas and in solving crimes by analyzing and interpreting evidence
- Food Science & Technology prepares students to work with food packaging, product development, quality control and food engineering
Promote Business
Agribusiness * Agricultural Economics * Floriculture * Recreation, Park & Tourism Sciences
- Allows students to integrate management principles with technical knowledge to develop practical decision-making skills for careers in the nation’s growing agriculture, food & natural resource sectors
- Recreation, Park & Tourism Sciences as well as Agricultural Economics promote opportunities for students interested in government policies, resource conservation, and development of rural communities
o Recreation, Park & Tourism Sciences focuses more with state and national parks
o Agricultural Economics is geared more to a finance and economic background- Floriculture provides students with a strong foundation in the art of floral design and special events planning with three emphasis areas:
o Landscape Management
o Science & Biotechnology
o Nursery/Floral Crop Production & Management
Conserve Natural Resources
Bioenvironmental Sciences * Ecological Restoration * Environmental Studies * Forestry * Rangeland Ecology * Renewable Natural Resources * Wildlife & Fisheries Sciences
- Focuses on basic sciences that are essential to the understanding of environmental issues and their solutions
- Provides conceptual framework for integrated management, development, and conservation of natural resources
- Ecological Restoration (a new program for the Ecosystems Science and Management department) seeks to restore
environmental conditions for endangered and threatened species - Forestry graduates have high placement rates in both public and private sectors due to increasing interest in sound scientific management of forest resources
- Wildlife & Fisheries Sciences provides opportunities for students interested in learning more about aquatic systems, animal behavior management, ecosystems for wild animals, as well as ecology and evolutionary biology
Serving Others
Agricultural Communications & Journalism * Agricultural Leadership * Agricultural Science * Community Development * Nutritional Sciences * University Studies
- Graduates will be able to apply their conceptual, analytical, and management skills to leadership, economic growth, youth development, poverty, welfare-to-work, and quality of life issues
- Emphasis on developing policy analysis and communication of vital information for all communities
- Nutritional Sciences in corporate aspects of food safety and microbiology, quality assurance, research and development, food sales, and public relations
- Agricultural Communications & Journalism is the ONLY journalism program at Texas A&M University and also ensures each graduate leaves with a professional portfolio
- Agricultural Science allow students to experience the technical side of agriculture while mastering teaching skills for school district certification
- University Studies: Leadership
Solve Problems
Agricultural Systems Management * Biological & Agricultural Engineering * Spatial Sciences
- Apply knowledge of physical and biological sciences, mathematics, and engineering principles to biological systems and processes
- Allows students to observe and interact with the earth and its ecosystems through the use of a variety technologies
- Spatial Sciences ( a new program in the Ecosystems Science and Management department) prepares students to use cutting edge technology for inventory, characterization & mapping, and assessment of natural man-made environments
- Agricultural Systems Management graduates excel at applying their technical knowledge of farm and processing machines, business management, communication and computer skills to manage large agricultural operations and environmental management facilities
Support Life
Agronomy * Animal Science * Dairy Science * Horticulture * Poultry Science

- Feeding the world and protecting our natural resources for mankind
- Understanding the interaction among plants, soil, water, animals, and air in different environmental settings
- Poultry Science
o Has a 100% placement rate for their graduates – they have more jobs than students to fill them
o Is part of the most technologically advanced and scientifically based form of livestock production- Animal & Dairy Science prepares students for careers in animal oriented agribusiness
o Students can choose industry or production options for both degree plans
o Meets requirements for veterinary school and other medical or graduate/professional schools
