Beef Short Course Set for Aug. 3-5

COLLEGE STATION—The 55th Annual Texas A&M Beef Cattle Short Course is scheduled for Aug. 2-5 on the Texas A&M University campus in College Station.
Since its first presentation in 1942, this short course series has grown to be the largest program of its kind in the United States, according to Dr. Jason Cleer, assistant professor and Texas AgriLife Extension specialist. Cleer is with in the department of animal science at Texas A&M’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
“Each year more than 1,300 beef cattle producers from across the U.S and other countries converge on the campus,” Cleer said.
More than 50 university faculty and industry leaders will give presentations during the course. Workshop topics include soil fertility, forage quality, nutrition, genetics, reproduction, cattle health and cattle handling.
The course also includes a trade show with more than 100 exhibitors.
The Beef Cattle Short Course is presented by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service.
