Three Poultry Science Faculty Honored

COLLEGE STATON-- Three faculty members and a graduate student from the Department of Poultry Science in Texas A&M University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences have been honored by the Poultry Science Association.
The honors were presented at the association’s annual meeting July 20-23 in Raleigh, N.C.
Jason Lee, Ph.D., received the Early Achievement Award for Teaching, which recognizes the early career teaching achievements of an Association member. Lee is an assistant professor of poultry management and an undergraduate advisor.
Morgan Farnell, Ph.D., is the recipient of the Early Achievement Award for Extension, given in recognition of early career accomplishments. Farnell is an assistant professor and the Extension program leader for poultry science.
David Caldwell, Ph.D., was elected to a three-year term on the Board of Directors. Caldwell is an associate professor of pathobiology and immunology and director of the Poultry Health Lab.
Radhika Kakani, a doctoral student, received a Student Research Paper “Certificate of Excellence.” This honor is presented in recognition of high-quality research papers presented at the annual meeting. Kakani, who is advised by Chris Bailey, Ph.D., gave a presentation entitled "Comparison of autoinducer-2 inhibition by saponin rich guar extracts and other commercial saponins."
The Poultry Science Association is a global scientific society dedicated to poultry research. Founded in 1908, the association has a global membership of about 2,000. For more information, go to www.poultryscience.org.
