Fall Interns Selected for Agricultural and Natural Resources Policy Internship Program

COLLEGE STATION—Fifteen students from Texas A&M University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences have been selected to intern in Washington, D.C., this fall. The selection was made by the university’s Agricultural and Natural Resources Policy (ANRP) Internship Program.
Students will be placed with Texas congressional representatives, the House Committee on Agriculture and the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA).
“This internship program gives Texas A&M’s agricultural students the opportunity to gain real world experience in a challenging and rewarding environment,” said Breanne Svehla, director of the ANRP Internship Program. “It is one of the few programs in the nation specifically geared toward transforming today’s agricultural students into tomorrow’s leaders.”
Fall 2009 interns and their assignments are: Preston Asay of Dallas, NASDA; Blake Barlow of Corsicana, Congressman Kevin Brady; Briana Brawner of Boerne, Congressman Chet Edwards; Chris Esselburn of Shreve, Ohio, House Committee on Agriculture; Stephanie Grafe of Boerne, Congressman Jeb Hensarling; Mandy Hong of Houston, Congressman Pete Sessions; Sarah Klein of San Antonio, Congressman Henry Cuellar; Ethan Mathews of Austin, NASDA; Patrick McMahon of Coleman, House Committee on Agriculture; Rachel Parham of Spring Branch, Congressman Lamar Smith; Harry Richmond of Pearland, Congressman Pete Olson; David Salinas of McAllen, Congressman Ruben Hinojosa; Devin Wagner of Austin, Congressman Charles Gonzalez; Cody Whitaker of Van Alstyne, Congressman Ralph Hall; and Adam Wright of Dimmitt, Congressman John Carter.
Interns are chosen competitively. Candidates must be majoring in a degree offered through the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Interns are provided with free housing while in Washington, a monthly stipend and the opportunity to earn up to six hours of course credit.
Internships are offered during the spring, summer, and fall semesters.
