Rishika Chimanji is a senior Bioenvironmental Science major at Texas A&M University, pursuing minors in Sustainable Architecture & Planning and Philosophy. Born and raised in Plano, Texas, she became deeply involved in her community through community service. She has spent over 450 hours volunteering at her local food pantry. After her sophomore year of college, she interned at that same non-profit, where she became increasingly passionate about addressing food insecurity. During her time at Texas A&M, Rishika discovered a love for teaching. She became a tutor at College Hills Elementary School through Texas A&M’s Reads & Counts Program during her junior year. She is currently an Ignite Fellow for Teach for America, continuing her work in education and equity. Outside of the classroom, she is an avid runner which led her to become the top BSC marathon ambassador for the past two years. This past summer, she was a housing and urban development intern at ICFwhere she focused on helping communities hit by natural disasters. This fall, Rishika is expanding her passions to continue uplifting communities in Washington, D.C. through the Agricultural and Natural Resources Policy Internship Program, interning in the office of Congresswoman Julie Johnson
