Texas Public Policy Foundation

Laura Beth James is a recent agricultural communications and journalism graduate of Texas A&M University. As an eighth-generation cattle rancher from Schulenburg, Texas, she has a deep appreciation for the industry that feeds and clothes the world and a desire to protect its mission through impactful policy initiatives.
During her time at Texas A&M, Laura Beth was active in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Student Council and served as a student senator for the College. She co-led the Aron and Mary Lois Savell Book Club, a group founded by the College’s dean focusing on holistic mentorship and leadership. Laura Beth enjoyed participating in activities at her church, St. Mary’s, and served as a Bible study and discipleship leader for the Fellowship of Catholic University Students.
Professionally, Laura Beth has served as a Texas FFA state officer, interned for the Texas Department of Agriculture in the executive office, and worked for Texas Youth Livestock and Agriculture and Texas A&M AgriLife Marketing and Communications. She enjoys using her writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills to connect with people of all backgrounds and share the stories of agriculture. Laura Beth is interning with the Texas Public Policy Foundation this summer, where she is honored and excited to gain policy experience and build lasting connections.
In her free time, Laura Beth loves to read books, write, travel, and spend time with family and friends. Following her internship, Laura Beth will be moving to Lubbock to earn a master’s degree in agricultural communications. She plans to pursue a career at the intersection of agriculture, policy, and communications and hopes to serve the agricultural industry in meaningful ways. Ultimately, she aims to bring the love of Christ to those around her and fulfill her purpose.
