Miranda Skaggs ’27 is a junior double-majoring in agricultural leadership and development and agricultural communications and journalism with an international agricultural development minor at Texas A&M University, and the second-generation Aggie in her family from Bryan, Texas.
On campus, Miranda has been involved in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (COALS) Freshmen Experience, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Dean’s Excellence Scholar Program, Pre-Law Society, Gamma Sigma Delta Agricultural Honor Society, Dr. Joe Townsend ’67 Leadership Fellows, ALEC Department Reps, served as a Muster Host for the 2025 and 2026 Muster Ceremonies, and Sponsorship & Awards Chair for the 2023 and 2024 Saddle & Sirloin Club Steer and Heifer Futurities, where she raised over $35,000 for the collegiate livestock judging team and the Saddle and Sirloin Club. She has served as Co-Chair of the Service and Programs Committees on the COALS Student Council and was recently elected Vice President of Service. She is a 2023 recipient of the President’s Endowed Scholarship and a recipient of the J. Malon Southerland Aggie Leader Scholarship. Miranda works as a student assistant with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service International Junior Master Gardener Program. She was awarded the 2024 COALS Outstanding Freshman and 2026 Outstanding Junior Awards and was honored for academic achievement on the college’s Dean’s List each semester.
Throughout her time at Texas A&M University, she has interned with the Heart of Texas Fair Steer Show, State Fair of Texas Prospect Steer Show, San Antonio Livestock Show and State Fair of Texas Beef Skillathon Contests, Houston Livestock Show Collegiate Livestock Judging Contest, Houston Livestock Show Junior Breeding Heifer Show, Houston Livestock Show Junior Market Steer Show, and Texas A&M University Beef Cattle Short Course. She has studied abroad with Texas A&M University in England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and Mexico. Upon graduation from Texas A&M University, Miranda plans to attend law school to pursue a career in agricultural law.
