Yaretzi Sepulveda

Yaretzi Sepulveda is a senior at Texas A&M University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in ecology and conservation biology. She is from Brownsville, Texas, and her interests include environmental conservation, sustainability, and science within public policy.
At Texas A&M, Yaretzi serves as Treasurer of the Society for Conservation Biology. She actively participates in conservation initiatives and helps manage organizational finances. Outside of Texas A&M, Yaretzi volunteers with the Felidae Conservation Fund and helps with wildlife conservation and environmental education. She also serves as a Youth Ambassador for Keep Texas Beautiful and is a member of its Leadership Council, where she contributes to environmental and community-focused initiatives.
Experiencing wildlife management, prescribed fire, and ecosystem conservation firsthand during her study abroad in South Africa truly reinforced her commitment to conservation. These experiences solidified her drive to find ways to protect the environment while also addressing the needs of local communities.
Beyond her academic and extracurricular commitments, Yaretzi previously held a student position at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, acquiring valuable professional skills in data management, organization, and teamwork. Through her internship with the Office of U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar, Yaretzi is deepening her knowledge of environmental policy and public service while observing firsthand how policy can drive change in environmental justice and support for underserved communities. She hopes to continue learning more about community outreach, engaging with stakeholders, and creating solutions that benefit both the environment and communities. Yaretzi aspires to pursue a career centered on environmental policy, conservation, and sustainable development.
