The Agricultural and Natural Resources Policy (ANRP) Internship Program takes great pride in the accomplishments of its alumni, who are now making a positive impact across the globe. Many former participants have used their internship experience as a platform to launch careers in a variety of fields and have become known for their professional success.

The ANRP Internship Program often serves as a pivotal step in the future of many College of Agriculture and Life Sciences students. Program alumni are currently working or have previously worked in key leadership positions in both Washington, D.C., and throughout Texas. They can be found in places ranging from Capitol Hill, to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, to the state capital, to the farms and ranches of our great state, to a variety of commodity and trade organizations. Others have pursued careers in the private sector, started their own business, or served in the Peace Corps and the military.

Whether our accomplished and successful professionals become policy makers, lawyers, agricultural producers, doctors, economic analysts, extension agents, or teachers, all of our alumni showcase the quality of leaders produced by the ANRP Internship Program.

Supporter Impact

Most internships in Washington, D.C. are unpaid. This makes it nearly impossible for many deserving students to learn about policy and gain practical work experience in our nation’s capital. The cost of living in Washington, D.C. is 15-20% higher than the average Texas city. This cost, when combined with tuition and fees is prohibitive to many students when considering this program.

Therefore, scholarships for students participating in the ANRP’s Washington, D.C. program are generously donated each year by supporters of the program. Donations allow students to experience this exciting and educational opportunity, which might otherwise be out of reach because of financial constraints.

All ANRP Internship Program participants in Washington, D.C. take advantage of a unique benefit, where they are provided with free housing, which amounts to a scholarship of $2500 in the spring and fall, and $2000 in the summer.

Moreover, each participating office also pays their ANRP intern a minimum stipend of $500/month. Thus, because our students receive monetary payment for their services, there is a general feeling of obligation, respect, and service.

How to Give

Cash Gifts

Many donors make an outright charitable gift with cash, check or credit card. If you itemize income-tax deductions on your tax return, the first tangible benefit of making a gift by cash, check or with your credit card is the tax deduction for the full value of your gift.

The annual charitable deductions you can claim for cash gifts to public charitable organizations is limited to 50 percent of your adjusted gross income. However, you can apply any unused deductions for up to five more years, which gives you six full years to use the deduction. You’ll also see the immediate results of your generosity.

The online giving site is a convenient way to make a pledge payment or a one-time donation to the ANRP Internship Program.
