AGLS 489: Special Topics in Global Agricultural Influences
- 1 Credit hour — Faculty: Dr. Jack Elliot
In partnership with the School of Agriculture, Fertilization and Environmental Sciences at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Morocco, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences has developed a collaborative virtual exchange course that connects students from across the Atlantic Ocean to work together on agricultural projects.
The program is called ENGAGE: Leadership in a Virtual World – with ENGAGE standing for Effectively Navigating Global Awareness through Guided Exchange – and it immerses students in a virtual environment of diverse teamwork, active listening, conflict management, leadership/followership, critical thinking, problem solving and effective communication through a variety of group assignments with agricultural and non-agricultural leadership themes. Through these facilitated dialogues and intentional activities, students develop critical skills that are relevant in today’s global workforce.
This course is a virtual exchange and does not require travel. Students have a unique opportunity to collaborate with international peers to learn more about culture and agriculture around the world.
