Biography
Kyler Cotton ’29 was born in Midland, Texas, but did most of his schooling in Katy, Texas. Prior to attending Texas A&M, he was an eight-year theatre student, having specialized in costuming and winning two sewing competitions on the national stage for costume and fashion construction. Kyler also held several leadership positions in programs like the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America and the National Technical Honor Society. He balanced these organizations and activities with a veterinary internship, becoming a certified veterinary assistant after 800 hours of work.
His main passion lies within ornithology, the study of birds, and he hopes to pursue professional bird research and aid in avian conservation everywhere.
On campus, Kyler is involved in organizations like the Texas A&M Photography Club, a student bonfire crew, the Ecology & Conservation Biology Ambassador program and volunteering for the bird collision impact surveys conducted on campus. He is deeply grateful to the Dean’s Excellence Scholarship program for both its funding of his education and the unparalleled opportunities for mentorship and community.
