Biography
Liliana Villarreal ’29 attended high school at the Agriculture Science and Technology Academy in Helotes, and it was there that she started her career in agriculture. During high school, she raised lambs through her FFA chapter and attended the local livestock shows each year, winning numerous awards. While her journey in agriculture may have started in high school, she always had a passion for the industry and expressed it by raising poultry and crops in her suburban backyard.
Due to her appreciation for both plants and animals, Liliana decided to major in rangeland, wildlife and fisheries management, more specifically the wildlife management track. With this degree, she hopes to become a wildlife biologist and study wildlife throughout the landscapes of America. To reach this goal, Liliana plans to join wildlife and conservation organizations, such as the Wildlife Society. She is currently participating in the Lights Out College Station survey to gain more experience in the wildlife research field.
One of the main reasons Liliana wanted to attend Texas A&M University was the community. She recognized the importance of having connections, especially in agriculture, and the Dean’s Excellence Scholarship program is helping her build those necessary connections. The Dean’s Excellence Scholarship program has alleviated financial stress and helped Liliana feel more confident in her decision to become an Aggie!
