A network of industry leaders offer expertise and support to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
The College of Agriculture Development Council is a volunteer organization committed to supporting the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and its students. Members of The Council include both former students and friends of the College, many of whom are industry leaders across the state and nation. From lawyers and bankers to ranchers and real estate agents, our members provide expertise across the agriculture and life sciences sector.
Our members have access to exclusive benefits and a strong nationwide network of professionals in agriculture and life sciences, but most importantly they serve as advocates for our College. The Council engages with students and provides them with opportunities that help them advance personally, professionally and academically.
Enhancing the student experience
Members of The Council are dedicated to improving educational opportunities for students studying all areas of agriculture and life sciences. The Council’s scholarship matching program offers an extra boost to council member gifts. Available on a first come, first serve basis, The Council matches members undergraduate scholarship endowments in the amounts of $12,500 and $25,000 for any member that has participated for five or more years. The Council has fully-funded more than 80 scholarships with a market value of $4.4 million.
The Council regularly aids in funding student organization service projects, professional development programs and judging teams. The Council also provides annual support for the Agricultural and Natural Resource Policy (ANRP) Internship Program.
Why should I join The Council?
Aside from directly supporting students within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, members receive exclusive interactions with the Vice Chancellor and Dean and other administrators at our bi-annual meetings. Members are also among the first to receive college and departmental updates, as well as a variety of networking opportunities with fellow members, administrators, and students.
Our members can also take advantage of the scholarship matching program to maximize their gifts. Available on a first come, first serve basis, The Council matches members’ scholarship endowments in the amounts of $12,500 and $25,000 for any member that has participated for five or more years in the Council.
Membership information
The Council welcomes membership from all former students and friends of the College. Members provide support through annual $1,000 contributions that fund The Council’s scholarship matching program, student organization grants, and student programmatic support. Our new recent graduate membership gives recent graduates within 10 years of graduation the opportunity to join The Council at a reduced $500 per year rate for three years to learn more about the organization.
Annual meetings
The Council hosts biannual meetings in the fall and spring. The fall meeting coincides with the annual College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Tailgate during a home Texas A&M Football game, while spring meetings rotate between College Station and other cities around Texas. These meetings provide council members with updates on the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Texas A&M AgriLife and Texas A&M University.
Meetings also include social outings and the opportunity to network with influential members of the College and Texas A&M AgriLife, such as the vice chancellor and dean, agency directors and department heads, as well as, fellow industry professionals and current students.
