Poultry science focuses on areas including, but not limited to, meat and egg production, anatomy & physiology, nutrition, processing, microbiology, animal husbandry and welfare, and sustainable technologies. Poultry products are the most consumed and cost-efficient livestock commodity in the world. This directly translates to an industry with rapid growth that provides many career opportunities. Our academic program is one of six poultry specific bachelor’s programs in the United States and has the largest undergraduate poultry student enrollment of any other university.
The Industry Emphasis Track prepares students for pursuing careers such as corporate management, quality assurance, sales or technical support in live production, processing, or marketing.
The Technical Emphasis Track prepares students for advanced studies in biochemistry, nutrition, physiology, molecular genetics, reproduction, processing technology, microbiology, or environmental science for eventual professional employment in research, teaching or public service, or for placement in professional schools such as veterinary medicine, medical school, nursing school, and dentistry.
