Ruben Barrera ’28

Biography

As the son of an avid gardener, Ruben Barrera ’28 has long had an interest in plants. He plans to work in a lab doing horticultural research or possibly enter commercial plant production. Ruben is a member of the Hart Hall Community Council and Deaf Aggies and Friends. He hopes to use his involvement in these organizations to improve the lives of others and spread joy. Some of his hobbies include reading — his favorite book is “Rincewind the Wizard” by Terry Pratchett — and running. Ruben appreciates the Dean’s Excellence Scholarship program for making his dream of a horticulture degree financially viable.
