Genetics is the study of heredity and the variation of inherited traits. It has become the basis for understanding many aspects of medical and agricultural systems, animal and plant diseases, and animal behavior. A genetics major allows the study of several different aspects of genetics, including population genetics, human genetics, and genetic engineering.
Our program is one of the few standalone genetics programs offered at the undergraduate level in the U.S. Our curriculum’s flexibility allows students to prepare for such diverse careers as forensics, medicine, business, or law. We also require our students to participate in active research being conducted on campus.
