Affiliate Partner International Internships
Interning abroad is an amazing opportunity to expand your degree program and add to your resume! Living and working in another country enhances one’s professional skill set, gives you a global perspective, builds language skills, and develops cross-cultural competencies. You could even bring back A&M credits as part of your experience, depending on the program.
A&M provides multiple opportunities to intern abroad for a summer or semester through affiliate programs. The providers of these programs usually support students with planning, logistics, transportation and housing in the country you select.
Affiliate program internships are administered through Education Abroad and the process is similar to finding and applying for a study abroad program through the Education Abroad portal. While the following affiliate partner and exchange programs are closely aligned to COALS majors, it is important to meet with an academic advisor early in order to see how the internship could fit with your specific degree plan and career goals.
Note: Not all affiliate provider programs are listed in the Education Abroad portal. To apply to these programs, please email the Education Abroad Affiliate Provider Team and let them know you wish to apply to a program “not in portal.”

Important Considerations:
- International internships through affiliate program providers come with a program cost. These are not paid internships.
- Academic credit for transfer is often available through the program provider, but not always. Consult your academic department about arranging for A&M credit.
Steps to Intern Abroad:
- Create Your Profile & Log in to the Education Abroad Portal
If this is your first time, you’ll be asked several questions to help Education Abroad get to know you better.
Take the Program Match Quiz which will assist Education Abroad in advising you, help narrow down education abroad programs and help you find the perfect opportunity to intern abroad based on your academic and personal needs.
If you already know exactly what program you want to experience, go ahead and skip the Program Match Quiz and start your application!
- Get Advised
Speak with an academic advisor about interning abroad and your academic progress. Let your academic advisor(s) know you are interested in an international experience, even if you are not sure what term you want to go.
While your academic advisor will not be able to tell you what program to go on, they know your degree plan and what courses you have available. Having this information will help you as you start researching programs. - Explore Options
Start researching programs to go on and decide on your top 3-5 options.
Next, explore these top choices in-depth to determine which meets your own personal preferences and what courses are the best fit for your degree plan.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Cumulative 2.0 GPR (as well as requirements of the sponsoring program provider or host institution).
- Good academic and conduct standing.
- Destination adheres to Texas A&M University Student Travel Rules
- Must verify with an academic advisor available transfer credit course options within degree plan.
Each provider and/or program may have different eligibility requirements. Students must meet both the TAMU and provider eligibility requirements to participate.
Application Process:
Students first apply through the Education Abroad Portal and will receive information on how to apply with the affiliate provider. Affiliate providers will require students to also apply with them directly through their own application system.
Complete the online application
Complete the Education Abroad Portal application, which includes turning in the Pre-Approval Form for Transfer Credit. Education Abroad has a great overview on how to complete these steps.
Confirm participation
Upon completion of your application, you will be prompted to “confirm” your participation in the program.
Apply with your provider
Apply directly to the provider coordinating your experience to secure participation.
