Note: Not all affiliate provider programs are listed in the Education Abroad portal. To apply to these A&M affiliate provider programs, email the Education Abroad Affiliate Provider Team and let them know you wish to apply to a “not in portal” program.
Important Considerations:
- Students are encouraged to complete core courses on campus. However, there is quite a bit of flexibility within majors to complete requirements for your directed and technical electives while abroad, so speak with your academic adviser to determine what would work best for your degree plan.
- Given the many short-term study abroad program options, students are encouraged to pursue these programs to meet Core Curriculum requirements where appropriate, such as foreign language, creative arts, social sciences, etc.
- Semester and year-long programs are great options for students and many are highly cost-effective compared to living costs in College Station. COALS strongly encourages students to take advantage of these programs, but it is important to start planning early by meeting with your academic adviser and major coordinator.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Cumulative 2.0 GPR (as well as requirements of the sponsoring program provider or host institution).
- Good academic and conduct standing.
- Destination adheres to Texas A&M University Student Travel Rules.
- Must verify with an academic advisor available transfer credit course options within degree plan.
- Must allot 2 – 3 months after the program for the transcript process. Students are encouraged to participate in a transfer credit program no later than the first semester of their final year.
Each provider and/or program may have different eligibility requirements. Students must meet both the TAMU and provider eligibility requirements to participate.
Application Process:
Students first apply through the Education Abroad Portal and will receive information on how to apply with the affiliate provider. Affiliate providers will require students to also apply with them directly through their own application system.
Complete the online application
Complete the Education Abroad Portal application, which includes turning in the Pre-Approval Form for Transfer Credit. Education Abroad has a great overview on how to complete these steps.
Confirm participation
Upon completion of your application, you will be prompted to “confirm” your participation in the program.
Apply with your provider
Apply directly to the provider coordinating your experience to secure participation.
Both the TAMU and provider applications can be completed concurrently. Providers may charge an application fee to submit a completed application. It is recommended to get pre-approval of the courses in the program by your academic advisor prior to submitting the provider application to confirm the courses are applicable to your degree plan.
