Biography
Carla Araguz ’28 is a first-generation college student and plans to specialize in poultry nutrition. Throughout high school, Carla was deeply involved in various activities, including FFA, Student Council, Band, Future Sweetwater, FCCLA and Upward Bound, all while taking dual credit and honors classes. She also managed to balance two jobs, working as a waitress at Skeet’s Texas Grill and a cashier at Walmart.
On campus, Carla is involved in the Mexican Student Association and the Poultry Science Club. She has also taken on a role as a wing bander in the poultry science department. Additionally, Carla is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she attends Right of Catholic Initiation classes and participates in John 15, a freshman-based organization. Carla is incredibly thankful for the Dean’s Excellence Scholarship program, which has not only lifted the financial burden of college but also provided her with opportunities to connect with peers and leaders within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
