Haileigh Christley ’28
- Major: Entomology
- Hometown: New Braunfels, Texas
Biography
During her freshman year of high school, Haileigh Christley ’28 moved cities to care for her grandparents, whose conditions made them more vulnerable to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Dean’s Excellence Scholarship alleviates the financial burden on her family, allowing them to focus on her grandparents’ care.
Alongside academics and running a club, caring for her elders and community was central to her life. Haileigh hopes to bring that same spirit of service to Texas A&M. She aspires to follow in the footsteps of entomologists like E.O. Wilson, who inspired her interest in insect behavior. Haileigh aims to pursue a career in one of the entomology fields, such as medical, agricultural, conservational or pest control.
At Texas A&M, she plans to utilize opportunities offered by the Undergraduate Entomology Student Organization and internship programs to refine her career path. In her free time, Haileigh enjoys reading, creating digital artwork, and playing teamwork-oriented games with friends.
