Biography
Amy Kaye Mathis ’27 grew up showing market lambs and goats for more than ten years. She was involved in 4-H, serving as the first vice president of the Texas 4-H State Council, as well as a Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassador and Norman Borlaug Youth in Agriculture Program Scholar. In high school, Amy Kaye was a founding member of the Douglass Youth Center 4-H Club, working to offer the benefits of the 4-H program to disadvantaged youth and serving with them to make a greater impact in their community. In college, she has taken the lead as a charter member and vice president of the Texas A&M University Collegiate Farm Bureau Club, competed on the Wool Judging Team, and is a student member of the Meat Science and Technology Association, the Saddle and Sirloin Club, and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Freshman Experience, COALS FX.
Amy Kaye plans to use her education to be an effective advocate for agriculture and plans to use her knowledge of production agriculture to improve the international food insecurity crisis. Along with her academic endeavors, Amy Kaye has many hobbies and interests, including surfing, traveling, photography, and music.
