Biography
Gentri Phillips ’27 comes from a family of Aggies. She first found her interest in animal science at a young age when she began showing market lambs. She then discovered FFA and 4-H meat judging in high school, where she was awarded Reserve National Champion team at the American Royal and the National Champion team at the National Western. As a student, Gentri serves as a member of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Student Council and College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Freshman Experience, COALS FX. She is also a member of the Meat Science and Technology Association as well as the Saddle and Sirloin Club. Gentri currently helps raise market show lambs with West Southdowns and has her own herd of commercial Dorper ewes with her grandfather.
Gentri says she is honored to be selected as a Dean’s Excellence Scholarship recipient because she knows there were many other deserving students. She strives to be the best and brightest to represent the scholarship well. Gentri is passionate about helping others succeed in their own endeavors. In her free time, Gentri enjoys spending time with her family and friends and being with her beloved dog, Goose.
