The Department of Animal Science offers dynamic and challenging undergraduate programs covering fields including animal behavior, biotechnology, beef cattle, dairy science, equine science, food science and technology, meat science, reproduction, sheep and goats, and swine. Animal Science offers two unique options to further tailor a student’s degree to best meet post-graduation needs.
The Production/Industry Option provides an animal science core education with a business emphasis for students seeking careers in animal production, agricultural extension work, or feed sales. Our curriculum prepares students for careers in animal-oriented agribusiness.
The Science option provides an animal science core education with additional professional school prerequisites for students who plan to attend veterinary, medical, pharmacy, or graduate school. This option is designed to provide scientific expertise in chemistry, biological and physical sciences, and mathematics, providing a strog background for graduate study in a wide variety of disciplines.
